The Factory of War

This was a restricted military zone. Here, the famous Genoese galleys were built, repaired, and armed.

• Galley Slaves: It wasn't pretty. Thousands of oarsmen (captives and convicts) lived and died here.

• The Submarine: The Nazario Sauro is docked here.
• The Crane: Old hydraulic cranes from the industrial age still stand along the quay.
• The Vibe: It's quieter than the Porto Antico, popular with university students.
