Today you ride the red bus. But until the 1960s, Genoa had one of the most complex tram networks in Italy, conquering the steep hills.
The Tramway of the Tunnels (Tramvay delle Gallerie) connected the center to the west, passing through specially enlarged tunnels.
The trams are gone, but the Funiculars (Zecca-Righi) and Elevators remain, serving the same function: going vertical.
